Jamil Soto is a 3rd generation musician born in Paterson, New Jersey. He was musically influenced through his grandfather and mother who are also both musicians. He picked up the electric bass at his local church, and quickly became fluent in the instrument by the age of 12. He attended a local performing arts school under the guidance of renowned musician Kenneth Davis, as well as Jazz House Kids, which is a preparatory program for gifted high school musicians. During his high school years, Soto developed a passion for Jazz, Gospel and R&B music.

Jamil Soto achieved his dream of attending and graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2019. While immersing himself in the diverse environment the school offered, Jamil helped develop the local famous Boston band, 7th Degree. Through the creation of this incredible group, he performed at concerts such as Benton Jazz Fest, as well as shared the stage with artists like Justin Timberlake, Missy Elliot, Lionel Richie, Gloria Estefan and The Frey.

Currently, Jamil is working towards achieving his goal of going on tour. Music has always been such an influential element of his everyday life. Jamil Soto plans on making a statement in the music world, just like it has made a statement in his.
